In the true tradition of Latin American theatre, Teatro del Pueblo once again collaborates with Intermedia Arts, the Resource Center of the Americas, and the University of Minnesota to bring seven new plays to the stage that take a fresh look at the politics of identity among the Latino community here in the United States and abroad.

Issues between a father and son show how borders–real or imagined–affect every aspect of a family.
For Mi ChiChi by Tere Martínez, Directed by Silvia Pontaza: (In Spanish w/some English)
A lesson between student and teacher brings to light the interpersonal struggles of one young Latina.
American Latino! by Dominic Orlando, Directed by Christina Akers:
The triumphant return of popular reality show American Immigrant from 2007! This year’s show highlights perceptions on Latino identity through an interactive singing competition.

Three generations of Cuban-American women struggle to preserve a lost culture after the family's matriarch designs a mental escape to Cuba through Alzheimer's disease.
The Great All-Dominican Championship Playoff Game by Robin Rice Lichtig, Directed by Steve Moulds:
The baseball game in which winning is literally life or death. A dramatization of the true story of Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo and his exploitation of a national obsession and young baseball rookie Satchel Paige.
Variations on Mixed Generations by Eric Silva Brenneman, Directed by David Lind:
Different takes on questions of identity heard far too often from a society that believes itself to be a culturally tolerant and sensitive melting pot.
Mucho Latino! by Dominic Orlando, Directed by Brian Balcom:
Join host Guapo Freddy in this exploration of Latino identity and the stereotypes that accompany this concept. An interactive comedic look at who knows more about “Latinos.”

Includes semi-staged readings of new play Welcome to Welcomeville by Alberto Justiniano, and new musical comedy Mashed Monsters, book and lyrics by Christina Akers, music by Shirley Meir.
Welcome to Welcomeville raises immigration issues through a look at a gated community and their interactions with local migrant workers. A socially charged play about struggles faced by illegal immigrants when their interests interfere with the needs and wants of well to do America.

Mashed Monsters deals with vampire fop Hubert Draculberg and his interpersonal struggle with identity and the vampire stereotype. This musical explores classicism in a world dominated by monsters where certain social graces and expectations prove more valuable than others paralleling the world of humans.
